Tria Positively Clear 3-step Skincare Solution

Only in the recent past two years have I really put an emphasis on my skincare routine. I am the worst when it comes to using tools and technology to use wash my face (I still mostly just use a good ol' washcloth.) In the past few weeks though, I changed up my skincare routine by incorporating the Tria Positively Clear 3-Step Acne Skincare Solution, which excitingly involves the FDA approved Acne Clearing Blue Light.

Growing up, I was lucky to avoid the hormonal teenage acne so I thought I was relieved of that, until I hit being an adult (where more important stuff mattered, yay me!) Either I am getting older, or my food intake is less healthier (not surprised,) and years of not being physically active is finally catching up to me. My trouble areas are on three spots on my face; the forehead, the left side of my face by the sideburn, and the chin.  It seems that no matter what I do, my little pesky skin enemies just love to appear at the same spot over and over again.

I've never tried blue light or any specifically targeted treatment to actually deal with the acne. Blue light is known to treat mild to moderate acne by penetrating deep below the skin and eliminate acne-causing bacteria. It's also safe to use on the neck, chest, and back – I do get the occasional breakout on my chest too (the combination of sweat + a non-breathable sport bra can lead to a not very pretty sight,) so I plan to use it on my chest later on. Cause, blemishes and boobs is NOT a good combo.  So far, I've only tried the blue light on my face.

Capturing blue light on camera is very..hard.

Step 1 of the 3-Step Acne Skincare Solution is to cleanse. With the Acne Clearing Blue Light, I also received the Tria Positively Clear Foam Cleanser. The cleanser helps wash away any impurities or dirt that can block the Acne Clearing Blue Light. It is a foam cleanser that is light and fluffy, and then it becomes very creamy on wet skin. After cleansing and wiping it off, my skin felt very soft already without any moisturizer. I don't think this is a *must* have product to go along with the blue light device, as most cleansers on the market are quite decent and makes the skin feel really clean.

The second step is to treat; the Acne Clearing Blue Light seemed a bit scary at first but you literally press one button and it rub it around your face. The package comes with an adapter and a USB cable so you can charge it when it's low on battery (a lot better than replacing a battery or buying a new one!) In the box also came with round stickers to isolate the target area of your face. I tried them out but they're not necessary, I think I am capable of not taking the Blue Light and run it all over my face.

To start using the Acne Clearing Blue Light, simply press the button to turn it on and bring it up to your skin. You will hear a beep, and then the whirring of a fan and a blue light is emitted. Continue moving it around the treatment area, without lifting the device off the skin, for five minutes until you hear a sound to let you know you're done. There is some heat (not scalding, laser like heat,) and my skin did feel slightly dry after but no redness. Definitely apply a cream after you finish!

The last step was to use the Tria Positively Clear Spot Treatment. Out of the three products, this was the weakest as it didn't seem as effective as my other favourite to go spot treatments. This is supposed to be used in conjunction with the Blue Light but I didn't pick this up too often.

Ok I hope I haven't sounded too boring going over the steps and technical details. The process is really straightforward, but time consuming. As I was focusing on three areas, that was 15 minutes of trying this out (and daily too for best results!) I am surprised the biceps of my arms haven't come out yet because it was tiring LOL and I am just weak. It is claimed that after 8 weeks, 100% users experienced improved overall appearance – which I can't justify yet.

Luckily I generally have clear skin as well, and the Acne Clearing Blue Light is best for mild to moderate acne. I've only been using it for 3 weeks and if I notice even better improvements I'll report back. I noticed that when I did get breakouts, it was 1-2 spots vs a bunch of little and big bumps. Using the Acne Clearing Blue Light does not mean overnight destruction of The Zit or The Pimple, but the blemishes cleared up around three days. So long story short- it's been working! As mentioned, the downside is that it's time consuming, but a lot faster if you were to go out to a professional – so I much rather "Netflix and Blue Light."

You can purchase the Tria Positively Clear 3-Step Acne Skincare Solution ($199 CAD) online.

The round thing is a brown sticker with a whole to target the areas you wish to put the blue light on
